I was called to be a chaplain in a Lutheran School 12 years ago, and have been speaking God's word into the lives of thousands of young people regularly since then. After yet another Synod vote to maintain the current church practice of men-only ordination, I have decided to move some of my regular devotional activity towards writing the sermons I would have preached had I been called to preach them. Until the Lutheran Church in Australia sees its way through this ordination issue, these sermons sit in silence and go unheard.

Purple – Lent

The colour purple is used during times of getting ready for a big celebration. The time of getting ready for Easter is called Lent.

Green

Our church uses colour symbolism in worship. The colour green us used when there aren’t any big festivals happening.

Baptismal Certificate and Candle

When a person is baptised, they’re given some amazing gifts.

Easter Sunday

Easter – the day we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.

Good Friday

Good Friday – the day that Jesus died on the cross.

Maundy Thursday

Mandy Thursday – we remember how Jesus demonstrated he was a servant and how he celebrated the Last Supper.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday – the day we remember that Jesus rode into Jerusalem, as he lead up to his death and resurrection.
